My efforts toward legitimacy continue this week with the debut of Book I: Without a Name on HarperCollins’ Authonomy.com, a website where potential authors can upload their books and get a chance at publication! The first three chapters are up now, with more to be posted soon.

Greetings, everyone. Now that Book VI and the second Volume are finally finished, I thought I’d share with you a little of what’s next for Tasakeru.
- BOOK VII: WARRIORS will probably start some time within the next month or two. After 13 months of working on Book VI, I feel I need some time to think before forging ahead with the next Volume. I appreciate your patience, and I’ll try to have some extra stuff put up in the meantime while I’m working on it.
- REVISIONS: One of my projects for the summer is overhauling all the books, especially those in the first Volume. I’ll be making improvements and fixing continuity errors and such, and possibly adding new scenes here and there. So if you notice significant changes, that’s the reason.
- ASK ASHPAW: You may have seen this link on the sidebar already, but for those who haven’t checked it out yet: I’ve opened the Ask Ashpaw, the official Tasakeru Tumblr page. I’ll be doing Q&As in-character and posting other cool stuff there that won’t fit on the main site, so please be sure to check it out, and submit your questions if you have any.
That’s about it for now… more updates are coming soon.

***I really don’t have much to say, other than a massive “THANK YOU” to all 25,000+ of my visitors, to my friends, family, and teachers who have supported this endeavor, to those who have been patient with me while waiting for updates, and to the artists who have helped bring my characters to life over the past two years. I initially started Tasakeru.com as an experiment, to test the waters before I began to seek a publisher. I’m happy to report that the experiment has succeeded beyond my wildest expectations… I may not have a publisher yet, but I have a lot of new people interested in the little world I’ve created, far more people than I had ever hoped for when I started out.
You guys are helping my dream to come true, and for that there are no words sufficient enough to express my gratitude.

***If you can find your way into the Secret Page, you’ll find it has been substantially expanded. Look for the password elsewhere on the site!
On a related note, the site’s two-year anniversary is at the end of this month. I want to see if we can break 25,000 hits by June 27th! So if you enjoy Tasakeru, please spread the word to your friends and family, or share the link to this page on Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, or just plain e-mail… you can find sharing buttons at the bottom of every post.
Good luck!***

***Once again, many apologies for the long period of inactivity. To make up for it, at approximately 3 P.M. EST I’ll be posting not only the newest chapter of Book VI, but a very special sub-gallery to go in the Illustrations and Fan Art section. Thanks to everyone who reads the site for your patience, and I hope this will somewhat make up for the wait.***

***I’ve made the first of several expansions to the Eight Species page. These updates will further explain the workings of each of the sentient species, focusing on their organizations and systems of government. Hopefully this will provide some entertaining insight while I work on the next chapter!***

***Everyone has no doubt heard about the March 11 Sendai earthquake and tsunami by now. The weight of this catastrophe is enormous, and the aftereffects will be felt for years to come. I ask all my readers to take part in donations to the Red Cross. If you cannot donate time or money, please consider a blood donation; not many people in Japan give blood due to cultural differences. Please follow the link for more details.***

For Brian Jacques

One of my favorite authors died this weekend of a heart attack. He was 71 years old.
There was no single series that inspired Tasakeru more than Jacques’ Redwall. The second Redwall book, Mossflower, is still my favorite, and I’ve read it more times than I can count. A signed copy of The Pearls of Lutra is among my most prized possessions. I wrote music for the series as a school project in seventh grade. Redwall has been near and dear to my heart for more than fifteen years, and it seemed only fitting to have a badger in my cast as a tribute.
There’s no way I can express how thankful I am for Mr. Jacques and his works, so these words will have to do. If I’m ever even half as good an author as he was, I’ll have lived a worthy life. Good night, sweet prince. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Eulalia.
